Wildberries confirmed a fire at its Sarapul logistics center, while accounts of damage at the company’s Perm facility remained disputed.
Ukrainian drones struck facilities deep inside Russia overnight on 29-30 July, setting fire to a Wildberries logistics warehouse in Sarapul, Udmurtia.
Wildberries confirmed the attack and said workers had been evacuated before the fire began. Initial information indicated there were no casualties, while emergency crews worked at the site.
Photos and videos circulated on Russian social media showed extensive flames and damage to the building, about 1,500 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
Reports from Perm Krai were less clear.
Local authorities and Telegram channels described a large drone attack, air defence activity, power cuts and disruption at Perm airport. Astra published an image that it said showed damage to a Wildberries warehouse outside the city.
Interestingly, Wildberries disputed that account, telling Reuters that its Perm sorting center was operating normally. Other reports mentioned fires at the Perm oil refinery, which Ukraine said it had struck the previous day. Perm refinery refines give or take 250,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces had attacked several facilities to “reduce the military-economic potential” of Russia. It also listed the Perm refinery and a training ground in occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast among recent targets.
Reuters separately reported a strike on another Wildberries warehouse in Russia’s Penza region. Regional governor Oleg Melnichenko said one person was injured and about 200 people were evacuated.
The latest attacks add to a series of strikes on Wildberries facilities since 18 July. Fires at several warehouses have disrupted deliveries and destroyed goods belonging to sellers who rely on the marketplace.
Wildberries said deliveries from Sarapul would be redirected through other logistics centres. The company has also begun compensating sellers affected by earlier attacks, though the extent of the latest damage has not been established.
