The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces found ammunition and military equipment after entering settlements in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claims Ukraine abandoned weapons, ammunition and military equipment while withdrawing from three settlements near the border. The ministry did not provide independently verified evidence supporting its account.
The statement named Yurchenkovo in the Kharkiv Region and Mogritsa and Malaya Slobodka in the Sumy Region. Russian authorities said units from Battlegroup North had taken control of all three settlements on July 30.
According to the ministry, Russian assault groups established positions inside the communities and directed artillery attacks. Drone operators allegedly monitored Ukrainian equipment routes and struck them before supplies could reach Ukrainian positions.
Russian troops later found “large amounts” of abandoned weapons, ammunition and equipment while clearing defensive positions, the ministry said. It did not specify the types or quantities of weapons allegedly recovered.
Claims lack independent confirmation
Ukraine’s armed forces or any independent outlets have not verified any of this information, even Ukrainian own troops are silent. However, the information comes entirely from the Russian Defense Ministry and was distributed by TASS.
TASS and Russian military officials have repeatedly published battlefield claims that cannot be independently checked or those that have been later proven wrong. Russian reports have also claimed Ukrainian personnel losses of about 1,300 troops in a single day. Figures of that scale require strong evidence, yet the supplied material provides no supporting documentation or independent casualty assessment.
Describing such a number as a fact is merely impossible as it surpasses all available evidence. Casualty reporting during an active war remains difficult to verify, but Ukraine could have never tolerated such losses, that fast, without capitulating. The point is, TASS is completely wrong.
